Im at that point, how to get past the guillotine, got a plethora of items
but none that work...a few items that have been used but still remain...
have these just not been removed from the inventory or are they to be used again ? Im sure I may be wasting time with them....
Also down the stairs under the castle on the right side is another fire but the fire extinguisher dont work on it ???

some items don't get taken out of the inventory because you just use them, rather than give them away, for example the bible. that's not to say they don't have another use... some may do. (i can't remember tbh..!)
oh and the fire extinguisher is now an empty extinguisher, which is why it doesn't work... :P

Ok thanks for that.
However I think the description for the fire extinguisher has been mixed up the wrong way round. When I first got got the item it was 'Empty Fire Extinguisher' which threw me a bit but it still worked. After I used the item
in my inventory it now says 'Fire Extinguisher' - may be worth a check on that.

oh bother.
was it after you'd loaded a saved game?
could do with as much info as possible tbh, cause i can't seem to replicate it.

Was as soon as I first got the item I think in the haunted room, I noticed it said 'Empty Fire Extinguisher', in my inventory, so I initially thought it wont work on the fire & I have to do something else first like fill it up but I thought I try it anyway first and it worked, it now says 'Fire Extinguisher'.
Dunno if anyway else has noticed that.

hmm thats odd.
there's only 2 points where it sets the name 'empty fire extinguisher'.
after you've used it, and on loading a game (if it *thinks* it's been used).
and when it's been used, it SHOULD change the desc to 'empty'. at NO POINT in the code does it change the desc to full, so i've really no idea what has happened there. bah.
the only thing i can think is that loading the saved games was a bit iffy with regards to it.
the way it was set, if you'd loaded a saved game, it would have changed the name of the extinguisher to empty (or it should have, it didn't for me...) even if you hadn't used it. i've fixed that.
peter has just uploaded it to the yolkfolk website. it's not a major bug. just don't go dropping the extinguisher in the haunted room if you don't have the cross...

36 Zzz's and counting...
I can't work out how to pass the guillotine, but I have managed to get the de-magnetising kit without drowning but sustaining severe energy bar damage in the process. Is that actually how you're meant to do it, or are you meant to solve a puzzle that makes it easier?
Not that I can find a use for the magnet now that I've got it anyway!

it is possible to get the de-magnetising kit and sustain no energy bar damage at all, i know cause i've done it. no item needed for that one!
you just have to be *very* quick and *very* precise.

there is a magnet stuck to a suit of armour at the top of the castle maybe the demagnatising kit is for that?
