Dizzy and Seymour - The Secret Family v1.1 [DOWNLOADABLE]

Post by Adz.M » Fri Jul 19, 2019 5:45 pm

This is probably the last Dizzy and Seymour game I'm doing for a while.
But if anyone is willing to take over the concept in your own personal way, you're more than welcome to.

With that said:
Vandalism in Keldor and family history play a part in the fourth instalment of "Dizzy and Seymour" with "The Secret Family".
If your familiar with the 'Dizzy Legends' games by Jamie Douglas, then the story on this game should be interesting to you.

Story dedicated to Jamie Douglas.

Story:
Dizzy was going through his family history in Grand Dizzy's study.

After what happened on Spirit Island, he was especially keen to learn more about King Demetrius and Dexter, The Lord of Darkness.

As Dizzy walks out of the study, Seymour arrives and tells him that a trouble maker is making It's presence known in Keldor.
What's more, he looked almost like Dizzy!

Curious as to what's going on in Keldor, Dizzy and Seymour once again leave the safety of the Yolkfolk treehouse village....

The password system can only be accessed via the game's Main Menu option.
You will find passwords after finishing one chapter (or in other areas if you look carefully).

Known bugs:
- Dizzy tends to slip on slopey platforms and on the edges of boulders, It's down to the way AndyUK coded the platform engine.
- 2 minor bugs on Cosmic's stage...
--- One involving an animation bug when falling in a certain way.
--- The other where Cosmic's cape sometimes gets caught on the edge of the platform when walking off the edge.

Last I heard, he was punished for insulting a custard worshipper.

But joking aside, I remember him mentioning years ago that he now has a job that's left him with no free time whatsoever.
Sounds like he has more of a life than some of us do.

Still, wherever he is these days, I still wish him all the best. :say_yes:

Ha - a job with no free time doesn't sound like 'getting a life' to me, more like a life sentence :v2_dizzy_cry:

Started reading the description Adam and my heart leapt when I saw 'arrow' keys, then sunk again when I saw it was only for the menu, not the in game controls. In the same way Annie can't get to grips with musical or picture puzzles I just cannot get my brain to make the switch from using the arrow keys to run and jump to using 'Z', 'X' & 'space (I started my Dizzy gaming life on an Atari).

Such a shame as your games always look really good Adam and I get so ******* at not being able to jump on clouds and over those stupid snails and spiders :hitwall:

You clearly missed the 'Redefine Keys' mentioned above, highlighted in blue! :dizzy_rolleyes:

On this game, you can change the control settings anytime by pressing F5.
I anticipated the feedback of not being able to change the controls, so there's no excuse to miss out this time! :v2_dizzy_biggrin:

Of course, the only downside is that you'll have to keep changing it everytime you open the .exe .
One of the joys of not being a specialist in programming.

Oh, I thought I'd already tried F5 Adam (maybe it was just the 'normal' or 'casual' mode I was messing with) - I do try, but you won't believe the number of times I've fallen off trying to reach the second cloud ...and been killed by those little monsters! I shall try again. If I can switch to arrow keys, then I have no problem with having to reset the keys each time I open the game :v2_dizzy_cheers:

EDIT: didn't realise you could click on the keyboard 'x's when you pressed F5 - had to do it twice to set both sides to arrows and can now run and jump all over the place - and have just entered the second bit with Pogie above me. Thanks for that Adam.

There goes my Sunday resolution of cleaning the kitchen floor - sure it'll keep for another week :v2_dizzy_clapping:

Ah sorry, I should've made that clearer. :embarassed:

I keep forgetting that not many people will be familiar with Clickteam's set up.

I am planning to address the controls on my previous games and make the arrows keys and right ctrl button the default controls.

I never once thought the 'Spectrum' controls would be so problematic to some players. :v2_dizzy_crazy:

Still, lessons learned.... eventually! :v2_dizzy_blush:

Hey, no need to apologise for me being such a klutz Adam, I'm sure that most people have no problem, so I'm very appreciative that you took my 'sad old brain' into account.

I'm sure there's no need to make arrows the default, but adding the potential to switch to arrows (especially if it can be added to your other games) would make this person think that Christmas has come early :v2_dizzy_cheers:

Still having lotsa fun with this game Adam, but trust your ears are burning on occasion when lots of Anglo-Saxon invective comes pouring out of my mouth :dizzy_mad:

Andy's jumping system sometimes fails when walking and jumping on clouds and vanishing logs and you just fall off the edge. That and sometimes the game over screen appears and I have to restart the whole chapter even though I'm playing in casual mode - sod's law being what it is, it usually happens when some ******** bat gets me just as I complete a complicated jumping routine collecting stuff.

Now you've decided to really mess with my mind, by dropping me underground and then turning the lights off after I've wandered around a bit - but luckily for me I'm old enough to own a pencil, so will be mapping the area today. :v2_dizzy_cool:

And (eventually) when I've successfully completed this game, I can do it all over again playing as Seymour and then, hopefully, lots more of your games when you've done the 'arrows' update for moving around.

So, thanks again for giving me a good excuse for not going out into the sunshine and getting sunburnt

PS - love the graphic of the steam engine.
