Yolkfolk News - Aug 2022

Hello there, eggventurers.
Hope everyone is alright following that chaotic summer break.

Here is a brief catch-up on what's been happening here since our last News post.

RetCon 2022:
Back in June, this year's RetCon festival went into full swing in London.
This time though, Philip Oliver had another Andrew for company on the day - Yolkfolk's very own Andrew Joseph to be exact as Andrew Oliver was sadly unable to attend the event.

This also meant that Philip had to do the presentations alone.

Now for the site updates:

-- News pages

• All News articles are now using fresh avatars with the quality, contrast and colour balance fixed.
• I had planned to restore a lot of old news articles from the old site, working my way down from 2020.
  For now, I've only reached as far back as December 2016 as news posts before that are unavailable on the Internet Archive and many elements of the old site are very much inaccessible.

-- Community Forums

• I understand that there are problems with adding file attachments to the forum, it has been reported and will hopefully be addressed whenever possible.
• Recently been in the slow process of restoring smilies and quote boxes that are currently missing from many old threads, it turns out the forum transfer from phpbb to WpForo left all threads 'slightly' bare and all the locked threads unlocked.
• There were certainly a lot of eggcellent memories looking back at 15 years worth of old posts, just very sad that a vast majority of people aren't on there anymore.
• Again, if anybody joined our forum from 2007 onwards and have difficulty logging in, you will have to either reset your password or contact the team if you need any other help such as updating your E-mail address etc.

-- Fan Games

• In case you haven't noticed, we recently passed the 300 mark on our fan games database, thanks Ross Mayhew.  ;)
• Before reaching 300, two old fan games "Fortnoks" and "Lens" are now available on the site again after learning that they both work on DOSBox.

-- Game Covers

• Added new scans for tapes and tape inlays for the Spectrum version of both Spellbound and Prince of the Yolkfolk.

-- Resources

• Spectrum sprite sheets for Bubble Dizzy and Dizzy Down the Rapids added.
• Pogie sprites from Dreamworld Pogie added.

-- Fan Art

• Artwork from Dave Bulmer, Andrew Foster, MikeyMaika, Count Cannoli, Spexxy and Dino added.

Lastly, a few messages from us.

-- The Keldor Shop
We still have a collection of restored A3 Dizzy Posters and Fridge Magnets on sale in our Online Shop.
This includes a Dizzy model by PandPCustomFigures on Etsy.

-- Dizzy the Adventurer
The 2021 PC Remake by Team Yolkfolk is still available to download for free via itch.io.
It uses the graphics and music from the cancelled Mega Drive version of the game, with special features, challenges and achievements.
