expert?

i'm no expert at dizzyage. most of my code is copied + pasted from elsewhere in the game, then changed to do what i need it to. it's a lot easier than writing it from scratch.

if i had to sit down and write it from the start, with nothing to copy + paste, i couldn't. simple as. i'd forget how half of the code worked and mess it up.

when i started Treasure Tomb, i copied code from Dreamworld, when i started Dreamworld, i copied code from Diamond Mine, and when i started Diamond Mine, i copied code from the tutorials.

thank you both! {yolkfolk}:delight:

dreamworld should be the best of mine, cause i had a solid month with no internet and nothing else to do. so i used the time to add loads of detail to the game that simply wouldn't have been there otherwise.

of course you learn all the time, so just as there are things in Dreamworld that are more advanced than Diamond Mine, so there are things in Treasure Tomb that are more advanced than in Dreamworld

god knows what i'll do for my next game.... :umm:

  {dizzy}

All done.

And what a lovely ending. Who'd have thought Daisy would drop kick toto into the volcano and run off with Denzil...

Now I can get my life back!

conscience semi-cleared for looking - i'd already found all those {yolkfolk}

...but then paradoxically, i guess that makes me thick for not being able to find the last one, seeing as it's not one of the toughest!

I think 2 of the hardest to find Zzzzs aren't mentioned in this bit before. I won't say where they are, but one of them is in Laputa (the penultimate one I found and alluded to by myself in this thread before) and the other is in the castle after you've gone through the mirror (but not as you go through the mirror - to stop everyone trying!). It's a case of several bits of weird backwards jumping and it works in a similar way to number 4/5 in the list provided by TF.

As for Treasure tomb dizzy, I haven't tried it yet but I think I should have a breather for a few days before jumping into that one!

Is there a reason why you're able to stand on the cloud in the 'Top of the Tree' screen to the left of the castle? I've noticed in this game that you can only generally stand on those clouds that lead you to something. In my search for that elusive final Zzz, I'm also wondering if there's any significance to the gigantic tree at the left edge of the hut complex, but I've run out of platforms and angles to jump from and walk off! {dizzy}

I tried those myself and no. Perhaps one of the 2 I allude to above may be the one?

Not to spoil it for the others, I'm not saying anything other than "if at first you don't succeed"...

Congrats TF! A truly excellent game. Now I can get back to normality too lol {yolkfolk}:raspy:

Have to say the overall morality was a bit dodgy though - Dizzy, being a "friend of Dorothy" (looking after Toto), falls under the spell of a "magical potion" which makes all the rooms spin around, and makes him hallucinate about weird and fantastical creatures!!! {yolkfolk}:joy:

Now to drive myself insane with Treasure Tomb!

Nice one Clientfan. If you didn't get the last Zzz from my suggestions, then technically you are the first to finish it by finding all the ZZZs yourself.

That one that gets you to Laputa was by far the hardest puzzle as it was something you'd have never have thought of yourself as the next step and, even then, you had to get it in an exact place that had no specified space to plonk it in! All the other times I got lost it was that I had the right idea/item but just put it in the wrong place. This one I'd have never had the right idea for!

it certainly helped!

The original games taught me that you have to try interrogating and jumping on, onto and through absolutely every obvious platform and surface in the map. Sometimes though as you say, it's a question of getting that exact right spot. I'd already 'investigated' the room you first alluded to, but did so again after your allusion, and then when I just needed one more Zzz I did so with absolute determination - and result!

Another excellent game TF, well doen once again... I haven't played much of it yet, but rest assured I will. I can't believe how high quality these games are, I really can't - they really invoke the spirit of the '80's originals. Well done :teethy:

I'll let you know how far I get btw, just playing Diamond Mine first though...

Thank you! :teethy:

i don't think i'll ever do a dizzy game of this size again, due to the time needed to code it, and the sheer complexity of it. hell, i've coded an entire website in about half the time it took me to do this game!

so i think Dreamworld is pretty much the pinacle of my games. i doubt i'll ever write a bigger or better one.
