I'm having problems downloading and opening some of the games from the web site. It will let me download them, but when I come to open them to play I get a message that reads

Spectaculator cannot open (whetever game it is)

The file extension is not recognised.

Any help would be much appresiated (sp?)

try the following emulator :

EmuZWin
http://kolmck.net/apps/EmuZWin_Eng.htm

Also if you've downloaded speccy games from yolkfolk they are more than likly to be in the russian TR-DOS speccy format. So you would need the above emulator to open.

Right ho,

On EmuZWin, the menu bar at the top, Go to File > Model > Pentagon 256K/512K, "OK" it.

Then choose the game you want to play (The File > Open thing  )
Then on the menu bar, go to Control > Beta 128 (TR-DOS) > Disk Browser, then double click whatever comes up, usually the name with a small green dot next to it.

Hopefully, the game should start on the emulator meaning you can now close the disk browser.

That technique does work for me, let us know how you get on
