Right, after quite a few months, Rail Road Dizzy is finally finished! the release date was going to be Saturday 16th of Feb, but I've decided to move it forward to tonight!

as always, please let me know if something happens that you think shouldn't, because although it's been tested to death, and all known bugs removed, there may be one or two small ones still there somewhere...

The score and timer display can be turned on or off in the options bit of the game menu (press Esc to get to the menu). The default is On, but it will remember which you choose.

anyway, enjoy!

Story:

Dizzy is back in his most original fan adventure to date!

This time Dizzy is in trouble. BIG trouble. It's Daisy's Birthday, and he's forgotten all about it! He decides to go to the old abandoned mine to see if he can find some gems to give her. BUT disaster occurs when he's crossing Iron Horse Canyon, as CRASH! the bridge gives way beneath him! Our intrepid hero manages to leap to the other side just in time to see the timbers crash into the murky waters below. Now Dizzy has an extra problem. How to get back across the canyon to give Daisy her birthday present!

Join Dizzy to eggsplore the mines, dodge monsters, help the yolkfolk, and get Daisy her birthday present before she fries him!

Jamie seems to live with the DizzyAGE website opened in his browser, refreshing it each second
I've just finished uploading it and came here to post about it and what do I find?
It was already here and the thread already has lots of posts! Ha, ha!

Congratulations for Rail Road Dizzy!
It's a wonderful game, your best, I'd say.
Everyone just have to play it!

And good luck in the competition!

P.S. I have it in the games list as "huge" - I suppose that's all right

haha no i think i just happened to refresh it when the game had been listed, so i edited the post to show the link. i'd already created the thread about an hour earlier.

it's certainly my best in terms of how i've used DizzyAGE, and the features i've used. But my best game? i dunno. i'm still pretty proud of Dreamworld Dizzy.

Yeah listing it as huge is fine, altho for those worrying its of DWD size, it is quite a bit smaller than that! the only thing i will say Alex, is that you still have it showing on the competition page as 'under development', and not linked!

thank you!

haha the comp isn't about how good the game is graphically, or how many original features are in it, or what you've managed to do using the engine. if it was, Peter's TUCA remake would win hands down!

no, it's about how much fun the games are to play. as simple as that. you can have all the graphical tweaks you want, and use every coding trick in the book, but if it's not fun to play, people won't like it.

therefore anyone has as good a chance as anyone else in the competition, so keep at it, you'll learn a lot as you go, and you'll have a great game at the end of it!

well i died after 30 minutes by a rat.. killed me soon as i entered the screen and i kept getting brought back to life on top if it... lol so i had to start over.

i need one piece of coal.. and there doesn't appear to be any more puzzles currently to get me any further.. as fair as i know.. so the last piece of coal must be hidden.. unless theres a way to get though the water.
oh and looking for things for Wizard and the miner.

lol ghostbusters!! {yolkfolk}

yeah unfortunately altho you get respawned at room entry after being killed by wildlife, that instance can still happen. tbh there's not really a lot i can do about it, i've done the best i can. You get respawned at room entry to try to move you away from the thing that killed you.

i'm get killed in the same place
to me if the rat did'nt come in to that room it may stop it happening
like you enter room you see water stop to have a think rat comes in you die get respawned and rat kills you
but if rat did'nt come in room this may not happen
what do you think TF
all the best

hmmm it's true that if they were just confined to one room, the problem wouldn't occur. i may look at doing that at some point. there would still be one rat i wouldn't be able to move tho.

however as this seems to be the only problem atm, i'm not going to change it yet, as it would mean that people would have to start from scratch. you'll just have to be more careful when jumping over them!

Rats!

Could you re-spawn at a position in the room, where there's no rat at that time?
like if the rat is near the room's entry, to use the other entry (or other distant point).

Or better, a temporary immunity to rats. Like if a timer on, rats will not hurt you.
In fact, you know when you get hurt by a rat, since you have the specific message.

hmm it would be difficult. it would be easier to just have the rats in one room, stopping short of the entrances to that room, so that when dizzy respawned he wouldn't hit a rat.
