no, i've just checked and you actually need to use the dynamite to get the spade.
Also, i can neither replicate the bug you mentioned, nor find a problem in the code. The code looks fine.
i played the game. so far, i collect 18 coals and 9 gems.
i just curious, i could ALWAYS walk and swim in the water without getting hurt. see below picture:

at first, i thought it was normal. but when i reached this room:

and trying to see what next (get a little hurt), i found an aqualung. funny, because in the deep cavern, i also found 'watery zones' and never get hurt at all. i could get a bottle of suntan lotion and a duster there without problem.

i take a little jump across the monster, sacrificing one of dizzy's, and move along.

dizzy is getting stuck here and cannot move.

seeing the screen name, i realize that i should came from above. perhaps must completed the train puzzle before (20 coals needed).
i reload my save game. all the items that i found in the cave after the monster screen couldn't help me passing the monster or moving to the upper ground. so, i cannot go out from the cave, surely must be restarting from the beginning.
i just inform this. plase don't give me any hint this time because i like the puzzles. :smile: i try to solve the puzzles by myself, without using walkthrough or hints from the others. well, maybe a little peek, if i get stuck later in the game for two weeks :teethy:

no, there is no use for them. I'll look at the underwater bug in a bit.
ok, that's bizarre. i can walk anywhere underwater. {yolkfolk}:scratch: i'll have to have a good look at this sometime this week, as that is a major bug!
alex, adz, can you temporarily disable the downloads until i fix it?
the Water Bug is fixed in v1.20, which i've just sent to Alex and Adz to upload.
worryingly, looking at the release history, i think the bug was probably introduced in v1.01 (way back in February 2008!) when i made it possible to breathe in Gas with the Snorkel. (the code didn't take account of there also being water in the game) That would make this version the first version with no major bugs in it... :surprise:
anyway, because it's a major bug fix, i've stopped previous saved games working with v1.20, sorry!

i found the bug accidentally, because of my stupidity that didn't found 2 remaining coals which locate in the same room! i went too far .. and then realize that something wrong has happened.
ok. i'll download the later version, and replay it. still less 1100 points from perfect score .. :smile:
