Alrighty,

Since the creation of this game is coming along fairly nicely I think it's time to make it's official announcement.
This will be the first game that I've ever made and I'm doing my best to produce something both challenging and entertaining, while it may not live up to anything created by Jamie, Alex or Peter....I can tell you that they have been of great assistance to me in regards to the coding issues that have arisen, ensued and been overcome. Of which I extend my thanks to them.

Anyway, here's some info on the game:

The Story is :

The Evil Wizard Zaks has been up to his old tricks again, for unknown reasons he has whisked Dizzy and several of his friends off to a land long forgotten by the civilised populace. Our intrepid hero finds himself trapped inside a large grungy castle with no knowledge of where he is and no memory of how he got there.
If he and his friends are to return home he must escape his prison and find a way to reverse Zaks magic....but he will need some help from a very unlikely ally.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dizzy's adventure will see him escaping from the castle which is packed with puzzles(some are fairly easy, and some are pretty good brain teasers)
Exploring an ancient and condemned mineshaft full of booby traps and traversing forgotten wastelands with many more puzzles to solve and perils to avoid.

As yet only the castle is complete(mapping and coding) it may be subject to some changes but that will be nothing more than a few minor tweaks if I find it suits the story better.
The mines and wastelands are still under work on paper but I'm confident they'll overshadow the castle when they are complete.

Here's a few screenies from in the castle:

Again, some of these may be subject to change.
Also you can expect to see ome sneak peeks at the mines and wastelands once I get them mapped.

Comments and feedback are more than welcome.

Thanks for the compliments.....very encouraging. {yolkfolk}:delight:

And to your question Adz, yeah I'm gonna enter it in the comp.
Wasn't sure if I'd be able to finish it in time but I'm starting to think I should have it done a couple of weeks before the deadline.

Looking really great!
Intriguing story - can't wait to play.
Make sure you reserve time for beta testing.
Some people on the forum can help you with it (myself included).

The mines are now almost finished, unfortunately down to some coding issues and time restraints, I had to change the origonal plan so the mines are unfortunately not going to be quite as grand as I'd origonally hoped.

That aside,...heres a couple of sneak peeks at what the finished mines are going to look like.

Wastelands should be going under construction this weekend.

Just for the record, I'm hoping to turn this over to beta testing in about 3-4 weeks,
right now my top priorities are finishing the mines,...mapping the wastelands, coding the wastelands and getting the main story finished.
Depending on how soon I can get that done, and how much time I have left before the competition is up I might try and get my head around some of the coding issues to buff up the mines to more like their origonal plan. For the time being I think it's best to stick with what I know how to do so that I can get the project finished in time. Then I'll do the fine tuning.

so far I have 45 rooms completed.....finished game will prolly be around 60 rooms.

Um,.....I got some bad news

Due to a real life crisis which I'd rather not go into,.....I had to put this on hold for a while, haven't actually worked on it in about 2 weeks {yolkfolk}:tired:

I'll hopefully get back to it today but now I don't know if I'll have it finished in time for the competition.....sorry guys {yolkfolk}:guilty:

{EDIT}

I wasn't at liberty to talk earlier but I am now so I'll elaborate a little...

I don't know if you guys have heard of the Bi-Polar disorder(aka Manic Depression) or not but I have a close family member who suffers from it.
Recently her manic cycles have been low end manics(when I say low I'm not refering to the severity, I mean the type)
The low end manics usually involve severe depression for no apparant reason, severe cases are coupled with suicidal tendencies.
The family member I refer to recently tried to kill herself by taking an overdose. I had to rearange my priorities, she needs me right now and I have to be there for her. Which is why my game went on hold.

Sorry to hear that.
Hopefully, everything will turn out well, and you'll be able to finish your game.
If not in time for the competition, at least after that, because we are all curious
about the Forgotten Realms...

No need to apologies.. family/friends should always come first..
dizzy is hardly important in that respect.

I appreciate the well wishes and the understanding......Thank you.

It's not all bad though, prolly about an hour after I made that last post I got a phone call with a job offer at North American Stainless, which I didn't hesitate to accept {yolkfolk}:music:
Hell,...I've been trying to get a job there for 4 years so hell yeah I'm gonna take it, even if they did want me to start immediately. 10 dollars an hour, 60 hours a week and some excellent health insurance. Not to mention plenty of opportunities for promotions/advancement and pay raises.

I at least had some good news to brighten her day {dizzy}

The 12 hour shifts will make working on the game kinda difficult but I'll get it done sooner or later.

60 hours a week? 12 hour shifts?
What are they doing? Games?
Just kidding
Good luck with it

{yolkfolk} gee 12 hours shifts... the most i've done was 10 and i wont do that anymore.. to much work.. i work to live not live to work...lol i no longer work weekends.. but I'm considering doing it again IF its an easy day.
Mind you i wouldn't do 12 hours shifts for that money.. well converting it into pounds its not worth getting out of bed for.

Conversions don't mean much anyway,....a dollar will buy in the U.S what a pound buys in the U.K so I guess you could think of it as 10 pounds an hour.
Only time the conversion works is if you're taking a vacation and this is a good time for British to visit the U.S. Very bad time for us yanks to visit the U.K

As far as the work is concerned, shoot I don't really like to call it work....more like a paid vacation. Only time I actually have to do anything is when the slag truck comes in to dump a pot and that only takes 10 minutes.
After that I might wait 2 hours before the truck comes back. It's easy money.
Only downside is that it gets purty damned hot in there and so dirty that I just about clog the drains when I get home and hit the shower.

$10 is £5, its under our minim wage.
while it all adds up doing long days its seems a little for a lot of work.
A pound wont buy what a dollar would. But i guess it does even out in terms of the cost of living.

I'm loving buying online and getting cheap deails.. pitty cant buy American Diesel lol.

Anyway thats not importiant.. i just feel bad for people having to do long hours. Mainly because i have it easy at the moment. and know one day things may change.

last week i was working 13 hour days pretty much every day. this week should be a lot better tho.

longest shift i ever did was 17 hours, from 7am until 1am the following morning. it wasn't planned, there was just a huge amount of work to do.

most hours i've ever worked in one week was 85 (not including 14 hours travelling...)

atm i'm averaging about 50-55 hours a week tho, which isn't too bad.

being self employed i do what i like {yolkfolk}
doing a large 8 hours at the moment because the weather sucks, Should be putting them up once the weather gets better. but not by much mind you.. I'm alittle lazy and hate early mornings lol

The cost of living,...that was the phrase I was looking for.

Kentucky is one of the cheapest states to live in.....Alaska is prolly about the only one that's cheaper and that's only because they have to pay people to live there j/k

Seriously though the cost of living in Kentucky is actually very good.
It's kinda stupid to think that it would double if I moved to Indiana espeacially since Indiana is just on the other side of the Ohio river. I can just about throw stones at it.
Given that I can actually feed a family of 6 for 50-60 dollars a week, I'd say 10 bucks an hour is pretty good money.
Plus you have to remember that the U.S doesn't have the NHS or equivelant, it's all private health insurance companies over here that cost around 2 or 3 hundred bucks a week for a decent health plan.
Some employers have their own health insurance which is offered to employees, NAS is one of those employers, they offer insurance that's just as good if not better than the private companies.
So up untill now I've had to fork out the cash for any medical expenses which really f#%$^&! sucked 2 years ago when I wrecked my truck and had to have plastic surgery to rebuild my nose. I've already paid 15 thousand for that and I still owe 25 grand. That's a lot of cash considering it wasn't even my fault.
That's what I get for using basic coverage on car insurance I guess,...but I wasn't about to pay for full coverage on a piece of junk that was worth maybe 200 dollars.

And it seems that this thread has gone waaaaay off topic. {yolkfolk}
I'll get it back on track eventually
