So what kind of movies are you into?

Hi all,

Was just wondering what sort of movies you are into.

I am very into Japanese horror movies such as The Ring trilogy, The Eye trilogy, The Grudge films, A Tale of two sisters, and more.

If you have seen any of the American remakes of these films, I recomend you see the Japanese originals as they are much more atmospheric.

I also like spoof films such as the Airplane films, and the Scary movie films.

I love dark movies such as The Crow as well

claire thats a bit dark, but i have to agree that the japanese originals are so much better than the usa remakes. jap version of the ring was scaaarryyy!!!!
as far as the crow goes, jason lee rules. 1st film was the best. sad what happened.

The Ring + Broken washing machine = near heart attack!

One day our washing machine broke, so we did the washing by hand, and let it dry in the bathroom, with a white dress hanging over the shower curtain rail.

That night I watched the ring, then went to the bathroom, forgetting about the clothes there, and I look in the mirror, and there is this white dress lurking behind me!

For a split second I was thinking 'Oh my god, its Sadako!'

woooooo veerryyy scaaaarryyy. i'm a bit more sensible, into matrix, blade and a lot of new vampire stuff. a bit like science fiction with gothic overtones. very scary avatar you've got this time. i've gone for the friendly leprechaun

Strange, weird, quirky stuff..and stop-motion.

Been a Tim Burton freak since i was eight. so that says it all,about the same time i discovered Dizzy in fact.
Ray Harryhausen, Henry Selick and Vincent Price Edward d wood Jr, Brothers quay are a few favorites.

Don't like Gore-fests, or CGI-fests. Hate stupid comedy's and 'teen' movies.
not a massive 'action' fan. or science fiction fan (like star wars for example)


two films i've enjoyed recently were 'the 4th dimension' and 'the science of sleep' fantastic stuff.

Yeah, I like Tim Burton stuff too. I really like Sleepy Hollow.

Did Tim Burton do the Sweeny Todd movie? From the trailers I have seen, it looks like his sort of thing.

yep.. it took nearly 15 years but he did it in the end.
I doubt the Burton who wanted to do it in the early 90s would have done as good a job as he did with it today.. its defiantly his best work since Ed wood. and i don't really like musicals.. lol
Then again Sondheim's Sweeney was always the anti-musical in a way.

If you like Gore and singing when its fantastic.. as a rule i don't normally like either. I'm Hemophobic so i never watch gore/blood fests.. but i saw Todd at a UK pre-screening. never in a million years would i thought id bee watching a bloody movie a the cinema, i don't tend to watch them at home.. but i went knowing I'll regret it if i didn't the worse that could happen is a pass out, and i went on Burton's word that 'more' sometimes lessons the impact as it doesn't play on you mind.. and he was right. in fact not watching the screen made things worse because you could hear the blood dripping and tricking down the thats and that was horrable...lol But i didn't pass out, sounds silly but it was a big step for me.. Only Burton could have gotten me to do it. lol

Hollywood is starting to annoying me.. i read they are remaking the remake of The Fly. How sad and pathetic.. other than up dating the 'fashion' because it does look very 80s (but it was a place in time so that shouldn't be an issue) theres ins't anything more to add to the story. Digital effects are not the reasons they should be doing this.. in fact nothing they do today could beat what they did with the 80s film.. it was perfect,a CG fly would look crap. I don't normally mind remakes or new adaption but i can't see anything that needs to be said with a new fly.. unless its going to be a crappy teen movie/straight to dvd/tv movie.. then fair enough we can ignore that. lol
