Trying to think of a witty way to start this thread but couldn't come up with anything more original than hello {yolkfolk}:meh:
Anyway, been lurking about the site and forum for a few weeks now after my son told me about it and decided to join. Only posted when needing help with TLOD but thought it rather rude not to introduce myself properly - especially when I'll probably need help again lol.
I'm a 50yr old female and hope I'm not the oldest here!!! English by birth but lived in Edinburgh and surrounding districts most of my life and moved to a Highland village 15 years ago. Absolutely love it and nothing will get me back to city life now.
As I posted elsewhere, I have many fond memories of playing Dizzy with the kids - usually they played and I watched and helped solve the puzzles - but we always did it together. My son refused to start a new game unless mum was there to play with him.
We acquired an Amstrad CPC 464 many years ago when my son was young and someone gave us a box containing about 60 games for it. Although there were only two Dizzy games amongst them, they became a firm favourite and we went on to purchase the rest as and when they were released. Looking back, I wonder how we managed to complete any of them with no saves!!! But we did, (well all except Spellbound) although I remember the temper tantrums and frustrated cries when the last bit of energy disappeared - and that was just from me {yolkfolk}:animwink:
I used to continue to play the games when the kids had gone to bed and even wrote walkthroughs for most of them into a large scrapbook, where we also pasted hints, tips and pokes from Amstrad Action. My son, who is 26 now, still has this scrapbook and it was because of this that he decided to go down memory lane and see what Dizzy info was available on the internet. It was with great delight that he found this site and not only original Dizzy remakes but brand new ones too. {yolkfolk}:yahoo:
I am at present working my way through all the games on DizzyAge with which I am very impressed. The first I attempted was TOS and loved it but so far I am in love with Jamie's games, having completed Dreamworld, Railroad, Diamond Mine and Lord of Darkness (although I needed help with that one). Hubby wondered what on earth we were doing last week as both my son and I were playing Diamond Mine at the same time - he on his laptop and me on mine. {yolkfolk}:thumb:
Well, I've rambled on enough and just want to say 'thanks' for a great site and a huge kudos to the makers of DizzyAge and the coders who have used it to make some impressive games - and all for free too. ?2.50 donation for a year is nowhere near enough - thats less than I used to pay for some of the original Dizzy games all those years ago. Well Done.
