i would just like to start of by saying, how much i enjoy playing all the fan made Dizzy games. My fave have to be Winter world Dizzy and Volcano ilsand Dizzy. ive have played the fanmade remakes of Dizzy but i was just wondering why no one has tried to remake Fantastic Dizzy but with Spectrum style graphics. If only i knew how to make the Dizzy games with Dizzyage, i would give it a go, so i was just hoping that one you guy and gals out there could pleassse make it, that would be so amazing.. can you imagine Fantastic dizzy on the Spectrum now that would be fantastic {yolkfolk}
Fantastic Dizzy on the Spectrum??

But really, I've no idea if anybody is up for the challenge of doing Fantastic Dizzy in a Spectrum style, possibly not for a while yet.
i still really hope someone will make remake fantastic dizzy, as i think that on the 8bit computers is where Dizzy really belonged. i still really enjoy the megadrive and nes versions of Fantastic dizzy but i think that graphics and music really suited the 8bit computers the best. i guess i will just have pray that someone along the line will make it.
ive been really impressed by the quality of all the fan made games, i think they have all captured the spirit of what dizzy was all about. just wanted to thank everyone for all there hard work {yolkfolk}
i just ran around and gave up once i found the graveyard.. with no idea how i got there or what i want meant to be doing.. From that small experience i thought it was a horrible game and didn't really work.
it was certainly a lot better than Crystal Kingdom Dizzy (dizzy 7) on the speccy. god that game was horrible.
It was easy but i quite enjoyed it.. its underrated.
I second what Meph has said really, I enjoyed the C64 version too, and if it gets remade as a regular Dizzy style DizzyAGE remake, then I'd deffo play it. But hey, everyone has an opinion
As for Fantastic Dizzy, I own the Sega MegaDrive version and I admit that it was rather confusing where to go when you first play it.
Eventually, I got the hang of where everything is in the game, took me longer to master the sub games and Zaks' Tower.
Of course, now I can tackle the game with ease, but what's still frustrating is that I always lose chunks of energy dodging rats in the tunnels of Keldor. {yolkfolk}
I hated the minecart bit, it was actually very hard to get through right to the end of the mineshaft unless you knew where all the rocks where in the course ahead which I could never remember, lol.
Seeing Fantastic Dizzy in Speccy form would be good but I think this game is best left as a 16 Bit game. After all, this game was built especially for the Sega Mega Drive and would be hard to make for the Speccy with all the screens and mini games included. It would take a good while to make I would imagine.
Regarding Crystal Kingdom Dizzy, I hated playing the Speccy version but never played the C64 version though. I will give that a try. But the Speccy version was so very different from the previous Dizzy games. Still ok I guess, I have played worse but the die hard Dizzy fans I recall hated this at the time it was released.
Can't say I'm fond of Crystal Kingdom Dizzy.

I love Fantastic Dizzy. It’s like a Dizzy Greatest Hits (which I think is what it was intended to be).

Yeah that was my interpretation of Fantastic Dizzy as well. It was like a tribute Dizzy game paying homage to the older speccy games.
I agree, as well, that Fantastic Dizzy it's like a Dizzy Greatest Hits, or as a compilation of the 7 speccy games!
I mean, it actually has few new puzzles and the few there are really seams to be there just to make the "game world" have sense.
However, even being finished all the Speccy games It took me a few weeks to finish Fantastic Dizzy. The game is huge and has many places for Dizzy to loose energy!!!
Anyway it would be great to have a real Speccy version (beside one with speccy graphics for pc)!!! Fantastic Dizzy is THE Dizzy game! But i don't know if it's possible to make it with only 128K (i'm pretty sure the 48K would not support such a big game plus music)!
Has to Dizzy 7 subject, man... i would even "eat" the 4 level's thing, but the way Dizzy jumps?!?!?! really awful!!! however i felt myself forced to finish the game... i mean I've finished all the previous 6, why on earth wouldn't i finish 7??? The game really reveled easy to finish!
All in all, since Fantastic Dizzy is a union of previous games with a few extras, i don't think we'll be seeing that remake soon, at least not before a Dizzy 7 remake (wich would be a lot more easy to do!).
But it would for sure be a wonderful remake

That's a good point you make about the size of Fantastic Dizzy and whether or not 128K would be enough space to make this game possible for the Speccy. You know what it probably wouldn't be possible to make a Speccy version taking the size of the game into consideration, although you never know, remember how big Spellbound Dizzy was?

Well, that a pretty good point!!! I didn't remember that "small" detail when i wrote my previous post... As far as I know Spellbound didn't even use all the 128k's memory...
Maybe it worth's a shot...
Anyway, in my opinion, if someone "picks" up the idea up it should be an "All or Nothing": or a remake of the entire game is made (mini games could be excluded - the important, IMHO, would be the puzzle part) or then it's not worth the job.
Have a small part of the game is not an option for me LOL
But then again... this is just my own personal opinion {dizzy}:dizwink:
Spellbound Dizzy had 103 screens when that was released so Fantastic Dizzy can't be much smaller or bigger than that surely.
If not remake this on the Spectrum, then maybe this could be remade as a fan game maybe.

nope, it had 105
I feel the same as you, if Fantastic Dizzy would be remade as a Speccy game I'd like to see it identical to the Mega Drive (original) version, even with the mini games included as these offered a nice change of pace to the game making for a better variation.
Anyway, I agree with Steve about the mini-games and if they could be included GREAT! but, being the game as big as it is, (and as much as i would love to have all the mini games included as well) If it was not possible to include them I would prefer to have the full "Dizzy game style" without the mini-games than don't have any game at all.
Don't get me wrong, I would love to have them as well, i just don't know about space... The Mega Drive's Fantastic Dizzy - which would be the only acceptable game to be based upon, IMHO - was be around 500K (if i'm not mistaken).
Now i don't know if removing all the colors and special effects to put it into the Speccy style would be enough to make it with less than 128K... If it was, PERFECT! If it wasn't: i could, sadly, say goodbye to the mini-games in order to have the complete "Dizzy game style". If the inclusion of the full map wasn't possible... well... for me this is not an option... it was better not to do it at all!
Still, i do think that maybe this is possible, not an easy task, but possible!
(And after such accomplishment what would be missing definitely (and this is me dreaming very, Very, VERY high) would be after the game was done, it get recognized (maybe published) by Oliver Twins/Blitz Games and CodeMasters... but this is just me dreaming high... LOL)
But first... there was the need of someone crazy enough to work on such project for the ZX Spectrum... Anyone??? Please rise your hand! :teethy:
