hmmm meph, you have the scull, so you must have been down in the cellar...

therefore you must also have the lid too. i think the lid and the cellar are what you need to concentrate on, however not necessarily for each other!

Theres another lid? it used the first one few day ago.
Can't find anything else in the celler.

Been following this thread - and theres a couple of frustrations out there
which I shared also - but most of these puzzles are so obvious (only when you know the answer, of course).

Heres a couple of hints:

Shop
I think only sell here if youve used the item or are sure its a red herring - but there are only a couple of things that are used more than once (but these tend to have obvious double uses)
- If you really think youve finished with the bucket and are really in need of the extra bob or 2, it might be worth haggling for more depending on whats in it???
- dont worry about money - I think theres loads of coins in this game and theres the opportuniy to earn more at some point later on - (if youve got good reflexes & are shrewd with the save game feature - you'll be quids in)

Red Herrings - hmm theres loads of these - some are actually worth money - if youre not sure its a red herring try to sell it - & take his advice

Cellar - make sure you explore every inch of this place for any item that could be useful - I didnt first time round and I sure as hell wish I had

Skull
- if you've not used this yet - theres only one place it could possible be used - a place where you'd expect to find a skull.....

Cat
My advice is think what is it cats are famous for doing? eh Jerry?

Lid
- Only obvious when you've done this one
- I think the most rewarding thing is just trial and error - on something that could be contained by putting a lid on it?

Ladder
- Obvious, really - somewhere you need to get past by going over - again its more fun by trial and error

soggy ice cream cone
- c'mon, I cant believe this has stumped so many people
- Just think, what use in real life would an object like this be?
- on second thoughts, no - dont even answer that one....

Meph is still a bit ahead as ive not worked out how to get pogie.
And whatever is 'obvious' still isnt to me yet lol...maybe something
I have forgotten but im devoid of ideas at moment.

- To get Pogie, you need to solve Grey-Dylans Puzzle - remember he's opposite to White Dylan, so he's not a the sort of person who likes a bit of gardening....

No sorry thats complete tosh, I think
Its White Dylan that helps you to get Pogie - and something else....

But how to solve White Dylan?

Theres a few things you need to do first - but start by using your strength potion....

Well they my be odiously but are they logical.. lol and we probably haven't found were its use yet.

Been trying the cat on mice, and fish with no luck.
And if the ice cream cone is soggy wouldn't it just fall apart.

I did find another hidden coin i had missed!

Edit, thats not how you get pogie... you need to real Dylans.

nahh there's not. there's loads of items hiding coins, but these aren't generally used for anything else. some of them do have a small value however.

yep! the other thing is, as i've mentioned before, that once you get past the first dozen puzzles or so, it's possible to take any number of different routes through the game. there isn't any one 'set' route through the puzzles.

Delta's right about the different routes - this game is so huge - that there must be umpteen combinations of which puzzles to do in which order.

The hardest bit about the pirate for me, was not the logic of the puzzle, but that I didnt look for the solution hard enough - it's just making sure you explore the place carefully

On a not totally unrelated note, It's made me realise how central to this game the Cellar is. Or was that the subconcious mind trying to find another route back to the bevvies? :drool:

i think it is the latter... :tongue:

almost every part of the game is 'central' to it, but i will concede that the cellar does hold more than it's fair share of things to do/take/use

{yolkfolk}:scratch: Well ive already used the strength potion, got the item that gets you....seen Dylan & he gives you the secateurs dont he ??

How does that help to capture pogie ? See list of items ive got unused earlier.

- look to use it on the types of things it was designed to be used on
