Hiya all, I was really keen to get hold of Crystal Kingdom Dizzy for PC so I bought the '24 Dizzy games on one disc' available from eBay which has the Amiga version with WinAUE emulator. Just one problem - when I open it, a welcome screen appears with the Fairlight logo and music, but I simply cannot get beyond this screen to the game itself! Has anybody else who bought the same disc found a way to do this?! Thanks a lot {yolkfolk}
OK, first make sure you have the latest release of winuae. Also, you need to have the right amiga kickstart rom, which is kick1.3. I could only get it to run on amiga A500 model only!
start winuae choose quickstart from the left menu model needs to be A500 leave everything else as default, down to floppy drives select disk 1 image for df0: tick box to allow df1: select disk 2 image for df1: click start and the game should load think it was left mouse button to get past the fairlight screen
Firstly, thanks very much for the help... I'm using the latest version of WinUAE. But when I open WinUAE, a box comes up first saying:
One of the following system ROMS is required -KS ROM v1.3 (A500, A1000, A2000) -KS ROM v1.3 (A3000) Check for the system ROM path in the Paths panel and Rescan ROMS
I've downloaded an Amiga kickstart ROM 1.3 which has an image JPG and an NTS Kernel application. I can't figure out how to get the game to run from here though! I can still get to the menu screen of Crystal Kingdom but when I click the left mountain the screen turns black and nothing happens. And I would love to play this game I haven't played for 15 years!
Hmm. sounds like a suspect file. I wouldn't touch anything in that and delete it imediately! also worth a virus scan of your pc, if you did! what you should have is a zip or rar image that has only 1 file called kick.rom in it. Might have an info text file as well. there are a couple of amiga sites that have it. sorry, it would break forum rules to post any links to them!
