yeah there really is! It'd be better if you could add yours to the list though...

Jamie, I see your adding multiple characters to ETD!
[/quote]
wrong! I'm only giving the option of playing one of two characters. You won't be able to play them in the same game, and the one you choose will affect which path you can take through the game.
All these games are looking top notch! The rhino is my favourite of all the animals so I know who's getting my vote {yolkfolk}:thumb:
I just know by looking at that screenshot of the switches in ETD that I'm gonna be cursing Jamie's name. That thing with the different paths is a good idea. do you get to see the same areas but from different positions?
I never had a spectrum. My starting point with Dizzy games was with the Atari so I was used to the brighter colours and just fancied trying to make a game in that style.
Most of the smaller item tiles I designed myself. Some of the larger ones I used pictures from some royalty free clip art cds I have as a starting point and redrew them in Paintshop - one pixel at a time!!. My favourite is not the rhinos (although I am pleased with them) it's a statue of a female acolyte as the flesh tones look very realistic imho. However, the wood structure of the huts I think I 'borrowed' from Magicland as I liked the style. I also borrowed a sofa from Seymour Goes to Hollywood and a bed from Spud's Quest.
The hard part was redrawing all of Colin's Daisy tiles with only a white outline for when Daisy wears the invisibility hat (and used the hat as the 'scuba' item in the gamedef file, then switched the tiles to the default tile ids for when Daisy is wearing the scuba outfit - mainly cos my scripting skills are still very basic).
Mind you, I hope that the graphics haven't taken over from the puzzles themselves and that the game is still fun to play, although I realise that the developers of any game are usually the ones that see the most flaws.
Thats cool, the screenshot with the hut and the wire meshing fencing behind I really like indeed.
I had a spectrum so the dizzy games I played were in the style of those tiles but I do really like the other ones with look polished, I know Jamie did one of his games in both (think it was Magic Star Dizzy) and I just loved the look of that and wondered where those tiles sets came from.
Im sure the game will be great and very playable by the way, from the look of the screenshots it will surpass part 1.
(and used the hat as the 'scuba' item in the gamedef file, then switched the tiles to the default tile ids for when Daisy is wearing the scuba outfit - mainly cos my scripting skills are still very basic).
I wouldn't worry about that, it's probably the best (and easiest) way of doing it! There's no real point in doing it any other way tbh.
At the moment, there are eight games entered in the competition but there will probably be more, so I'm wondering what the voting system is - is it one vote per person or do we choose 1st, 2nd and 3rd (obviously not choosing your own game)? If it's only one, then I think the choice is going to be very difficult as the quality of the three games I've been playing have all been excellent.
the scoring system is that you score each game from 1 to 10, with 1 being truly dreadful and 10 being absolutely excellent (or something like that)
there is nothing to stop you scoring your own games, and as i've said in the past, I do so based on how good i think my games are relative to the others in the competition. So if i think other games are better than mine, then i'll score mine lower than theirs.
argh to many games i haven't played yet.... it means im now playing 3 at the same time .. lol in fact more because i haven't completed Part 1 and a few of the more recent games either.. BUT i will play them, after all the time and effort put into them it's rude not to.
Good luck everyone, all the games look fantastic... Grandad, can't believe you've kicked out a sequel already! Looking forward to that one, the first was really enjoyable.
Well that's mainly because unlike you young whippersnappers I don't have to go to work anymore ..so these cold days are ideal for just sitting in front of my PC, drinking copious amounts of tea and trying to figure out devious puzzles to frustrate you all ...and scratching my head to try and figure out the devious puzzles that other fan game makers have put into their games.
