I was the first to congratulate you and did say your game was a well worthy winner
You do seem rather aggressive to me on here for whatever reason...
- this comp is just for fun, dont take it too seriously. Its the spirit of the participation that makes it the most fun
- the comps rules be Alexs rules, what he decides is final - (that said, Alex has always been open to constructive feedback)
- it'll probably take a significant surge of interest in the comp for the organisers to want to make some bigger changes
- if you think you can do it better, you could always set up your own (Im sure others have taken inspiration from this forum/comp and gone on to achieve some good things)
re: number of downloads vs total voters - Im not sure we can read too much into the popularity of the comp that way?
Some games have been shown to be downloaded thousands of times - but that doesnt have to equate to a 1:1 download to player ratio
Detail:
Perhaps the difference can be explained that counters aren't reset when a new version is released, so the counter doesn't distinguish if you've already downloaded the same game but different versions. Or maybe there are people who download the same game more than once - I know ive done it before (usually cos i forget where i saved it to the first time or i delete it and want to download again some time later...)

However, what do people think about having categories to vote in? For example, for each game you could have votes out of 10 for originality, quality of puzzles, graphical design, technical achievments etc with the total of those scores then becoming the overall score for that game

Isn't this what I already kinda suggested  Great minds and all that jazz

Vote for games on content then average the games total score by the number of players who voted for it.![]()
This method gives credit where its due and allows for the fact that not all games are played.
Weve all played games that looked beautiful but the storyline sucked and vice versa.
You would be voting for what was important to you in a game and those who were not particularly advanced programmers could still score highly if their other content was good.

Come on lighten up…wasn’t to be taken literally..was only to emphasize are lots of potential ways the scoring could be done…

[/quote]Haha, what? I was making a joke. I thought it was plain to see it was tongue in cheek. Also, I've not been aggressive to anyone. If that's how it's come across then it's entirely unintentional and misconstrued.
Pleased all is ok then
