A Pirates Life: Dizzy I expect to release it 4th Jan 2011
Story:Life's been pretty uneventful lately, for the all yolkfolks. That was until the Day of Daisy's birthday. Dizzy is under orders to keep himself clean for the party. The gift is wrapped. The time had arrived to leave. Little did Dizzy know that in a few short minutes, would he believe he would be swashbuckling his way through time, pirates and folk that look strangely familiar?! Can you help Dizzy find his way back home to his own time. He doesn't want to ruin Daisy's party.
It's about 75% complete so far. As usual, it's full of bugs at the moment! some pics
I've been helping to test this. Trust me, it's even better to play than it is to look at. Utterly stunning, and graphically miles above any other DizzyAGE game.
Mark the 4th Jan 2011 down in your diary. You won't be disappointed.
Colin looks mightily impressive as always, your screenshots always look remarkable, best you get to see & always a joy to see what creativity youve come up with this time. The lighting effects are fantastic, dunno how you manage to create that in the map with the different radiating colours but I love that {yolkfolk}
yes, it's a nice simple effect. I use it a hell of a lot in different ways in the game. I will need a couple of other people to test it, when i'm nearer to finishing
looks great and highly recommended by the man delta himself shall be working hard from now till january so i can have free time for dizzy games {yolkfolk}:yahoo:
I, too, just love all these effects with light in Dizzy AGE games (which theoretically allows just poor graphics, no professional background...). And Colin's previous game was also amazing. However, I didn't like the mine cart screenshot. It doesn't suit the rest of the game and - most importantly - in comparison to this screenshot (of PC origin) the rest of the graphics seems worse than it is. Maybe transforming it to "Spectrum-like" graphics would work better? Generally in my opinion: either "oldschool" graphics or graphics in style of original PC Dizzy, but a combination of both doesn't work too well.
Wow - Looks immense. I'm more than happy to test - NOTE TO ALL DEVS: I'm always up for testing {yolkfolk}:yahoo: My feedback is sincere and detailed, as Grandad will hopefully testify from his first adventure, Daisy Goes Solo. {dizzy}
Oh yes, Mataeus was one of a few people who tested my first game and gave me lots of useful advice in a friendly manner, which is what all first time developers need as they are never sure if their 'little baby' is any good or just a big pile of poo.
Personally I don't have a problem with mixing graphical styles in a game as my main concern is whether I'm enjoying the game. I might go 'wow' when I see a particularly well drawn piece of scenery, but won't say 'pants' if I'm viewing a basic speccie scene.
I'm wondering more whether Colin has included a monkey or two in this game?
sorry to disappoint! not a single monkey! I used the mine ride graphics out of fantastic dizzy + added a couple of new ones. i'm not going to redo it all.
Shame, cos I've got a well thumbed map of the mine cart ride in fantastic dizzy although I still had to keep pausing the game to make sure I went on the correct track.
