Heeey...
I was wondering if anyone can give ma a hand and make some original dizzy game editor.
I mean and editor of already existing game.Like editor for Fantastic Dizzy.
I have lots of data for all nes and Game Gear Dizzy games.
And for Genesis version of Fantastic Dizzy.
I myself have no time to make it.
Anyone interested?

let me get this right...

You want someone to help you write - from scratch - a complete editor for game data that you already have (for obsolete consoles), where they'd not only be quite constrained in how they did it because what they'd be doing is basically reverse-engineering the original game data, but they'd also probably have to do it 3 times (or 2 at the very least) because they're on different systems, and all because you don't have the time to do it yourself?

  {yolkfolk}

I would very kindly suggest that you, sir, are having a laugh.

I could be a lot less kind than that, but I'm not that rude.

Dizzy9, you sound as if you know so much about the games that you're pretty close to engineering a level editor yourself. Why don't you pose your questions on a ROM-hacking forum, and seek out authors of other level editors to ask if they have time to give you tips on how to get started?

Well... because what they'd be doing is basically reverse-engineering the original game data But I already did it.. but they'd also probably have to do it 3 times Why?Who said that?(beside you;p) I would very kindly suggest that you, sir, are having a laugh.

I could be a lot less kind than that, but I'm not that rude. Hah,it starts again,hm?
ehh...just one thing: I JUST SAID I HAVE data.
Lots of people requests me to put a thread like this on some oficial forum so MAYBE someone will cooperate.
And this is perfectly normal situation when a guy like me makes requests like that.At least on NESSNES hacking scene.

no, what you were saying is that you have the original game data, and you want someone to write an editor for you which can accept that game data. That would be a huge huge job, which you want someone else to do for you.

the '3 times' i said was because each game is on a different system, so will have 3 different data types, therefore needing 3 different editors.

But I wrote "I have lots of data for all nes and Game Gear Dizzy games." lots can also mean that I already have data decyphered.
For example, here's Dozy Dialog from DTA for NES:
http://wklej.org/id/525638/ which you want someone else to do for you. Are you trying to say that I won't share editor with community?
It's for community and this offer is for community.
BTW:
Fantastic dizzyGDGDTA data is same in NES,game gear versions...

Over my head.
I dont even understand the original question... {yolkfolk}:sob:

Dizzy9 - have you got any specification documentation for what you want?

ok ok fair enough, but it would still be a big job for someone to write an editor to understand that data. It would be like having a DizzyAGE map file and then having to write the DizzyAGE editor from scratch to accept the data in the map file.

Also, I know you'd share it with the community, but it's still you that's asking for it, so they would be doing it primarily for you (even though you'd be sharing it).

You mean something like this?
(Translated example level data explaination)

Fantastic Dizzy formats-Level Data
Addres in ROM:0x8000(NES)
Game Gear share same Addres.
For GenesisamigaBig6 version look into "16 bit data" folder.

The TSA (explained in 8bitTSA.txt) is verticaly 6.
Horizontal lenght is specifed in level header at 0x4000(same for Game Gear)
GenesisamigaBig6 share the type of level lenght reading.
For addres look into"16 bit dataMISCaddreses.txt"
Intrestingly, levels from NES and Game gear can be easily switched.
Genesis verion have different TSA starting ID(0 instead of 15).
"16 bit dataGenesis TSA" for more info.

CPU behavior.
CPU behave excatly the same in all versions of FAOD(8 and 16 bit).
When firts TSA was drawn CPU jumps by 4 tiles forward and 4 tiles upward. Then, it reads next TSA number from level data. And repeat until either whole horizontal line is drawn or when PPU reached Hblank state. After that It read 00 as starting PPUADDR and start to read next TSA.
After filling up level rendering is enabled.

but it would still be a big job for someone to write an editor to understand that data.
Hmm, yeah.I'm sorry for being so rude.

@Dizzy9

Have you searched if a rom hacker/editor already exists for your chosen platforms?

A quick google for me returned for example a site called romhacking.net

http://www.romhacking.net/reviews/187/

Or, I wonder if some of the ones that have been created for popular NES or Sega games like Super Mario or Sonic might be suitable for your needs?

Like in 1993 version, and fix inventory(like in 1993 version)?

I'd say a padlock springs to mind looking at this thread. {yolkfolk}

We've had somebody on the old forum called housty (zaks on this forum), saying he'd been working on a project called the Fantastic Dizzy Engine, but he hasn't been on this forum for over a year and I obviously don't know if It's still secretly in the works or not.

It's just a figure of speech, in this case it means that I'm tempted to lock this thread.

On some of his posts, he's called it FDE. He did do a thread about his engine on the old forum but we haven't heard very much news about it here.

Yes, I'm Co-Owner(Co-Creator?) of Green Dizzy.
There was A project to port Green Dizzy to "RED" version(Fast walking, new inventory etc) but berion(Co-Owner) blocked it.Maybe someday he change his mind.

Thanks! {yolkfolk}:bigwink:
Yes,I wrote it myself.

Adz.M-I think it's ok to close thread, I doubt anyone want to help.Besides, if someone want to help later he can read this thread.

I don't understand why You request this. Grimm's editor can already edit all locations. Of course it's only for NES/Famicon game version. Of course it cannot edit other tables, but You know format of all of them and You have a src...

Anyway, You asking for others platform game editor? Do not take it to personally but IMHO You should concentrate on one thing, not starting zylions unfinished projects.

I can't belive it You've write something like this after all this discusion on dizzy.pl forum...

Yes, he is. More than just helping but i'm did most of job. ;d
Anyway, I recommend You this hack. Especially if You know good enough an original version.

This kind of hack could be difficult. It's not impossible, but better idea is to just port whole GD to '93 version.
