Ive been loving dizzy games for....erm....erm.... lets just say many years now.

I found here and then I found dizzy age. (so exited i even had a little bit of wee come out {yolkfolk}:raspy: )

Im finding the coding really hard now. I have never ever done anything before like this. (i do security, I assure you I didnt do well at school)

Is there anyone else out there who has managed to crack this being a complete beginner or shall i just go back to playing the many great games that you lovely people have made?

Welcome to the community Ben! {yolkfolk}

I can assure you that each of us were complete beginners when we started our first games!

I have done a few things to try to help beginners when coding their first game. I've made some video tutorials, and I've also fairly recently made a Tutorial Game which takes you through the process of making a simple game (although it does assume some familiarity with the map editor - see my video tutorials for that).

Together with the DizzyAGE documentation, hopefully this will all help you to understand what to do and how things work. If you're still a bit stuck on something, don't hesitate to ask here on the forums {yolkfolk}:thumb:

One last thing: it's always easier if you start with a simple game, without getting confused trying a fancy effect or two that some of the newer fangames have in them. Get the basics sorted first, then you'll have more confidence to move onto more complicated coding.

Above all, have fun! {yolkfolk}:music:

With no previous programming experience, you will struggle at first.

The good news, if you persevere, GS9 is strongly based on C++.
This means that, not only do you have lots of fun making games - but youve opened a window into potentially other platforms too.

Be sure to take advantage of the support material eg tutorials, reference files or this forum if you need help

Just take little bits at a time and you'll get there!

Thank you all very much. Im finding it hard and i like a challenge. at the moment im not even really thinking about making a game per say. just trying to get dizzy to to do what i want him to do. (dam them error's lol )

Even though it never seems to do what I want it to do im still really having fun.

Thank you all once again  Right now back to see if I can perfect a simple message strand. :wall:
