Hi, Dizzy community!

I just wanted to let you know that we (me and and couple of friends) are working on a project to port DizzyAGE to iOS platform (iPod Touch/iPhone/iPad).

We also want to express special thanks to Alexandru Simion for providing
complete engine source: we already studied it thoroughly and porting is in progress!

@Alexandru Simion
I hope you read this post as well. Meanwhile we made also some bugfixes and engine enhancements. In any case i will contact you by mail later once everything is done, so we can discuss details and provide you with updated source code.

We hope porting Dizzy to iOS will make it more famous and fun to play
with touch controls!

That sounds great
Are you likely to do it for the Mac too?

Guess the level editing would be possible on the iPad but the iPhone might be too small.
I was researching this possibility but was only an idea until I learned more of Obj-C

Have you seen Tiled - http://www.mapeditor.org/
I have found the java version to have the best features.
There is a cool iPad app (iTileMaps) out for creating the levels

Are you documenting your progress anywhere?

Yes, we plan to do it for Mac too.
Not sure about editing levels on iPad - at the moment only game itself is planned.
I will report progess here once some significant milestones are passed.

Dizzy could be very popular with Macs, especially if you get featured on Apple's site. Even so, there aren't many great games for macs, so you could go far with that. Looking forward to it! {dizzy}

Hi all,

Sorry to put a dampener on things, but if Codemasters got wind of this being on the App Store, they'd request for it to be pulled immediately. I think the general jist of things is that they're happy for IP infringement (that's what fan games are, sadly) to go on, as long as it doesn't make any money or reduce their ability to earn money from that IP in the future.

I'm sure as long as it's 'free' it shouldn't be a problem, no more than whats going on now.

Plus it means other games made with Dizzyage that have nothing to do with Dizzy could be sold. (Jamie could do this with his Dizzy legends series, which i think was discussed once before, but prehapes better suited to Iphones and other such devices.)

If this ever got made it would never be available in the app store due to many reasons.
