Update on Legal Disclaimer

Philip Oliver has been in touch with us a while ago about the legal disclaimer.

To those of you who have a Dizzy site or any fan games that are currently being worked on, please update the legal disclaimer with the following.

"Dizzy", "The Yolkfolk" and all related characters and titles are trademarks of Oliver Twins Limited and The Codemasters Software Company Limited.
All rights reserved.

The Yolkfolk.com site and Facebook page have the updated disclaimer, The Dizzy Community Forums are yet to update the disclaimer.

Could you ask him if old games must be updated, or whether it's sufficient to update the legal notice the next time an update is done for the game?

Should be the latter Jamie. Copyright of the trademarks for fan games made prior to the registration of Oliver Twins Limited is still with Blitz (and Codemasters) and should be legally retrospective and only games published after the registration of Oliver Twins Limited should need the update.

I'm going to update the tile '6 loading' to reflect the change for the current game I'm working on.

Fan-made Dizzy games are still allowed as long as It's free to play and you put the legal disclaimer anywhere on your game.
What you're not allowed to do is make people buy a fan-made Dizzy as both Codemasters and the Oliver Twins will take legal action.

I've noticed that many of the recent DizzyAGE games (except for Grandad's) have still not updated the legal disclaimer on their loading screens.

The default loading screen is meant to look like this.

Since "Blitz Games Limited" no longer exists, It's meant to say "Oliver Twins Limited" in It's place.

Hope this makes sense to you all folks. :smile:
