A Windows first-person fangame by Anthony Burns.
:egg: DOWNLOAD

Any problems trying to download or install this game, please let us know on this thread.

How to install:
Open the DTCCSetup folder and run “Setup.” Install the game to the suggested directory (DizzyTCC in Program Files). The game should now appear in your desktop menu as “DizzyTCC.”

If you would like sound and music, then copy the separate folder DTCCSounds straight to the C: drive of your computer.

Story:
Disturbing reports and pleas for a valiant and preferably downright reckless hero draw Dizzy back to the scene of his first adventures: the small village of Cigam, which has fallen victim to a new curse of unholy spirits and cursed objects that have driven the inhabitants into hiding.

It is left to Dizzy alone to find ways of lifting all of the curses and exorcising the spirits, before hunting down the cause of this supernatural scourge.
Search the village and the surrounding area for clues and items, while avoiding contact with ghosts and hazardous terrain.

Controls:
- Cursor keys to turn Dizzy left and right, and to walk forward and backwards.
- Space to jump. Dizzy spins when he jumps, so carefully consider the speed and angle (Dizzy will stop his jump trajectory if he collides with a solid surface).
- W (held down) to walk, reducing Dizzy’s movement speed by half. Useful for taking smaller and more precise jumps.
- S (held down) to sidestep with the cursor keys (instead of turning).
- Left Ctrl to pick up an object, or to drop a held object. You can hold up to three objects at a time.
- C to combine objects, if you are holding two or more objects that you think might go together.
- E to examine. This is used to read signposts, or to examine a piece of scenery to see if has any special characteristics.
- X to exit room. This is only possible when Dizzy is standing next to an open door or gate (This will be indicated in the bottom-right of the screen).
- I to turn the inventory / heads up display on or off. You may find that the game runs better without a constant text display.
- M to turn the in-game music on or off.
- Q to quit the game.
- P to start the game (from title screen).

Hazards:
Dizzy will lose a life if he comes into contact with a ghost, fire, water, sawblades, fireballs, or moving spikes.
Static spikes are safe for Dizzy to walk through, but he will lose a life if he falls on them from a height.

After losing a life, there is a short period of invincibility allowing Dizzy to move to safety (during which the heads up display is shown in red).

Thank you for hosting this. My first ever realtime 3d game (just in case you can't tell  ), programmed in Visual Basic v.5 using the DirectX 8 APIs.

I started this game as soon as I had picked up the basics of Direct3D graphics from Jack Hoxley's superb VB tutorials (on Gamedev.net), making the game itself a huge learning experience. In hindsight, it contains so much that I would have done differently. I shot myself in the foot by using the LITVERTEX type, making it impossible to put in any atmospheric lighting (which which have looked damn nice around the torches, but too late now ... ). I would probably also have used a third-person Dizzy character in preference to first person, but when I started that was too complicated an animation for me to get my head around. Not that it was at all easy to program Dizzy's jumping from first person, though. I daresay my neighbour still wonders what all the swearing was in aid of ...

Still, I ended up including a lot more than I had planned to at the beginning, and I was honoured to be able to include an original soundtrack by professional musician (and good friend) Flapsandwich (formerly of punk band Sicknote, branching out quite a bit here): https://soundcloud.com/flapsandwich . I make no pretense to this being the 3D Dizzy game that fans (including me) have been waiting for, but I do hope you all get some enjoyment from it (and no problems getting it to work, please God ...).

Just realised I forgot to set up the link for the Sounds zip folder on the page. That's now fixed!
