Looks like they have complicated the original, for no readily discernible reason, or is that me showing my age and getting my fingers in a twist on any game needing more than 1 fire button? {dizzy}:lookup:

Well it's probably 'Gauntlet' in name only. Marketing reasons.
So many games of this type now it hard to stand out and be original.
