I wanted to finally post here about my first game, which I started in March and hope to finish by the end of the year! It's called Tycoon Dizzy and is loosely themed around Monopoly (only in as much as locations; you can't spend coins or anything). The story is that Dizzy has lost all his money and is in debtor's jail. He has to escape and make all his money back (i.e, find 5 bags of coins scattered around the map). It's been a fairly ambitious project, so far at 102 rooms. I need to do 13 more, then I need to complete all the puzzles (I've done maybe a quarter).
Like many people, I started drawing maps and ideas for a Dizzy game in my school books years ago, so it's great to finally be able to create something! I just wish I'd been brave enough to do this sooner. (I would spend hours drawing the sprites in binary on my ZX, and pretending it was a real game. Then I'd put them into Basic top-down games where the player is a 8x8 stickman, but there's only so much you can do with this, and it's very slow. When I discovered DizzyAge it looked very daunting and I was at uni - it wasn't until I found Jamie's Youtube tutorials that I decided to give it a go.) So I hope there are still people who are interested in playing when I'm finished! :teethy:
We'll all be looking forward to seeing your game I'm sure.
Once It's finished, you can E-mail it to me to have it hosted on Yolkfolk.com. And also E-mail to xelanoimis to have it hosted on the DizzyAGE site.
WOOOHOOOO, finally finished my first Dizzy game! It's been so much fun at almost seven months of work but to be honest, I'll be glad to get my life back! These last 10 days or I've been pretty obsessed with polishing it all, seemed like for every bug I found and fixed, another two would surface! Also I've been so paranoid I'd lose everything. Now it's all ship-shape and ready to go! I'll pak it up tomorrow after work, and write the readme file and all the other stuff on the list, then I'll probably get it sent in on Friday :teethy: .
I'm really happy with it, and at over 200 rooms (I'll do a count tomorrow) it's a bit of a monster!
Oh no! Which boulder exactly? (Also, I can't believe I never noticed I'd called it a chair leg rather than table leg. That was one of the first things I did {yolkfolk} {yolkfolk} )

Hi Andy, I've had the same problem. It's the boulder to the left before the really hot desert. Hope that helps. The game looks really good and I can't wait to get started properly now!!
Thanks both of you. So annoying! I had a few friends test and I did myself for ages, but I see the problem in the code now. It won't happen anywhere else and hopefully that will be the only problem. Thanks for sticking with it {yolkfolk}:delight:
So close to finishing, need one more diamond but can't find it anywhere! The only unused item I've got left is the crowbar Does it get used to find last diamond? I'm all out of ideas
@jmcf81 - Wow, that's great! To be honest, I had no idea if my game was too hard or too long or what, so I'm delighted you got so far so quickly! The crowbar is indeed used to find a diamond, but it sounds like you'll have got that already (it's below the church.) Did you try using the Jesus sandals on the sea to the left of the map?
@chlodnik229 - Did you use the whiskey already? If so, you can use the octopus on the light switch in the spaceship. For the gum, think about something that you're not allowed to deface.

I haven't found the whiskey yet. So, I will try with the gum.
EDIT: I thought that I can't avoid the crocodile. Now it explains a lot ;p

Yeah got that one to the left of Daisy, is the one below the church after the killer crabs? I got one there but don't think i used the crowbar to get it. Oh and the game is a nice length with some really hilarious scenes and it's not too easy with some of the puzzles i got by accident ha {yolkfolk}
Found the last one, it was under the water past Daisy, i had been using the Jesus sandals the whole time. What a really enjoyable game to play. I love how he left Daisy behind at the end, the Xanax puzzle I worked out right away, I'll say no more on that hahah. I got lucky with Whiskey puzzle as i was completely out of ideas but the game really opened up after that. 10/10 game thanks for putting so much effort into and hope to see more in the future {yolkfolk}:dizzy: {yolkfolk}:joy: {yolkfolk}:yahoo: {yolkfolk}:yahoo:
Yeah, there's only one diamond under the church, so you got it! Trying to think what it might be... The only one I thought was obscure (though I left two clues) was: Give the sign to God. Another might be on a cloud two screens below St Peter. There's also one in the swamp.
Hope this helps, because I really want people to complete it! :teethy:
OK, looks like we replied at the same time, {yolkfolk} Thanks a lot for your feedback! I'm so glad the first person to complete it (so I assume) liked it so much. It was certainly a lot of fun to make :teethy: I just wish DizzyAGE had been around when I was 10! Though I'd have got nothing done

It was such fun to play with some really funny dialogue and scenes which to me added to the enjoyment. Was there was a Father Ted reference in there too or just coincidence?
