How do you get off the broom?

I'm playing the in-browser version and I can't get off the broom to pick up the cloth duster or what looks like a sword / knife. Any help?

It's the jump button (not the 'up' directional button).

What's the jump button? I've been using Up to jump.

If you're playing online, there is a link there called "How To Play" where it tells you within' that the 'Z' button is jump.
