Hi there,

I'm Phil - I used to run DizzyWorld.co.uk

(wayback machine:)

https://web.archive.org/web/20050326111114fw_/http://homepage.ntlworld.com:80/max.ireson/Dizzy/home.htm

I'm going to be working on a new game with DizzyAge, but have a few questions:

- What language it it written in
- In terms of sprites, are they build in and if so, can they be modified?
- When a game is done can it be exported as old-school formats?

I'm sure I will have a lot of questions but for now, I need a little kick starter.

Thanks!

Hi.

The DizzyAGE site has an about page here.
  :egg: https://www.yolkfolk.com/dizzyage/about.html

Aswell as a "How to begin" page.
  :egg: https://www.yolkfolk.com/dizzyage/articles/howto_begin.html

I'm not a technical guru but according to the second link, the language DizzyAGE uses is in GS9.
But It's also suitable for anyone who knows the C/C++language.

There are 8-bit graphics built into the DizzyAGE engine, it is possible to add your own graphics too.

Also, there is a DizzyAGE tutorial available on YouTube to help you with the basics.

That's all I know as I only use Clickteam Fusion 2.5 for my games.
But I'm sure another DizzyAGE programmer will stop by and help you with anything else you have concerns about.

Hi Phil,

It's also worth checking out the Articles page (https://www.yolkfolk.com/dizzyage/articles.html)

You're welcome to add images to your game, you can even make them animated using a tool that comes with the platform.

Most games also come unlocked so if you see any images you like you can unpak a game and borrow them, just post credit to the original author, Colin and Jamie added some eggcelent sprites back in the day.

Depending on how you prefer to learn the video Tutorials from Jamie are a great place to start.

As with the images in the game the scripts are also included so if you want to copy how someone else has implemented a function, take a look at their code.

There are also a lot of threads that explain how to implement certain functions.

Have you an idea for your game yet?

Hey guys,

Thanks for the replies and the info.

My idea is pretty big and will be hoping to release an actual cassette (with a USB - like a gimick usb) - there will be limited because of the price of one out of my own pocket, but the point is to create something real good - high quality and clever something that has never been done before.

Everyone will be credited equally.

I have the idea - its a great story (based on Christmas) with some twists in it.

If anyone would be interested in working on it, with me please email me at: [email redacted].

Artwork-wise, i'm thinking we could do something amazing. - Thinking Ultimate Cartoon, but with hologram if anyone knows of someone that could do both, it could work.

Like I said, this is all out my own pocket, but again everyone would be credited equally.

Please email me and we can set up a freedcamp group

  thanks
