Hi,
I own two Mega Drives model 1 (PAL and NTSC-J) and an Everdrive, which allows playing Master System ROMs. This works perfectly fine for the most part, but there's one game that gives me a headache - Fantastic Dizzy. The SMS version seems to be badly programmed in general as it often crashes in emulators as well (sometimes even killing the whole emu). However, I can't get it to work on the console at all. I'm not sure if there's a problem with this game, or with the hardware I'm using, or both.
Basically, after the Codemasters intro screen, the graphics are displayed incorrectly, ie. the sprites are shifted down way lower than they're supposed to. The title screen crashes after few seconds (the sprites disappear altogether, and that's it), but if I skip it I can get to the gameplay, but it doesn't help much - the sprites are shifted down here as well, and the game either crashes instantenously or after a short while of playing.
There doesn't seem to be a big difference when running this game on a NTSC-J or PAL machine; maybe on PAL it crashes a little bit later, but it's uplayable either way. I've tried changing Everdrive settings (SMS BIOSes, etc.), to no avail.
Any ideas? Is the Everdrive to blame? Does this game run only on a real Master System? Or it's just a piece of crap? (that's most likely  )
