Extra/Unused map room/locations in DOS version on Fantasy World Dizzy

HI,

I am unaware (quick search 🙄) of this being addressed somewhere previously, but...

Whilst programmatically "ripping/extracting" assets for fun, I came across three room/locations in the map data that are not present in the Atari/Amiga map presented here at yolkfolk.com.

As I have never have had the attention span to play games to completeness and can not verify if they do exist, maybe someone else knows?

I have images, the 3 map rooms...

And, all of what I have so far...

Hi.

I'm afraid the file attachments on this forum have been broken for some time.
You'll have to use a image sharing website or perhaps E-mail me personally so I can upload them here.
Sorry about that.

But I am keen to see what you've ripped as we don't have much in the way of Fantasy World on 16-bit.

This one is the Title screen itself where Dizzy is seen with the Yolkfolk.

If you keep the game idle on the Title screen for several seconds, Dizzy will suddenly move and walk to the right of the screen, revealing those two screens, like a special demo to show how Dizzy plays.

The 16-bit versions of Magicland and Prince of the Yolkfolk did the same thing.

But I don't think anyone as ever seen the screens without the characters on it, so a good rip.

Are you able to rip all the sprites from the game?
I had in the past attempted to rip characters sprites from the Amiga version using the awkward method of Print Screening the sprite wanted.

Here's my end result from ages ago, not all Dizzy sprites are there and the Shopkeeper's legs are obscured by the grass.

I think so.😅

I'll add a link to my complete album so far in original post.

@tantalus

Just had a chance to go through your album, and dare I say...Eggcellent job. {yolkfolk} {eggs3}:eryes:

I've completed the Amiga version of Fantasy World a few times before, so sensing graphics I've never seen before may be simple to pick out.

I've uploaded the GFX onto Yolkfolk, hoping to add them to the Resources page when I get the chance.

Like I said, the Shopkeeper's legs can't be fully seen on the game.

Dizzy's exploding animation I don't think as ever been seen fully before.

And I don't ever recall seeing Dozy's eyes open at all.

Now with this one, I don't think I've ever seen the bird and bat sprites before.

Map graphic tiles.

Again, well done for doing this. {yolkfolk}

You're welcome!

I have also been busy with Spellboud Dizzy (Atari ST) and Magicland Dizzy (Atari ST).

Magicland needs further work to assemble the map properly as for now it is just a linear vertical bitmap.

Spellbound is also work in progress, with no map stuff yet and a palette to sort out for the BLKS.BIN sheet.

If you're interested I will post links to what I have so far in the relevent forum room.

You're more than welcome to do that.

On the site's menu under 'Community' is the 'Resources' page.
We keep a collection of ripped graphics and sprite sheets on that page, not fully complete in the 16-bit side of things but still a good number.
