Missing forum features (UPDATE - 14th Feb)

Hi everyone.

As I'm sure some of you may have noticed already that this forum has been given some updates, which is the good news.

Unfortunately however, updating has brought up some technical gremlins, which consequently means that some features on the forum have had to be disabled for the time being.

- Custom emoticons

- Private messaging

- Video embedding

- Polls

- Advanced file attachments (which never worked anyway)

While it sounds absurd to have a forum without those features, that sadly can't be helped right now.

However, there is an old file attachment system in place here which should work, but hasn't been tested though (file size limit is 10MB).

Thanks for your time and sorry for any inconvenience this has caused.

OK, here's an update.

Andrew's been working his magic again and has managed to bring back most of the features.

What's more, file attachments should now be working again as seen below this post.

However, Private Messaging is still unavailable for now due to compatibility issues.

Yeah, it's also sabotaged my thread. It's scrapped post titles which I used to open or lead into posts on my Talkthrough. Now they've gone along with part of my content. There are messages that no longer make proper sense now.

@dct I'm not quite sure what you mean exactly.

No posts have been deleted, with the exception of Pogie deleting his own posts in the distant past if that's what you're referring to.

And your talkthrough is still online. Everything you've posted should still be here.

<sigh!> This is hard to explain it retrospect as I'm trying to argue to the previous existence of something that's no longer there.

The first example I can see is in post 5, dated 6 November 2004 and begins "other great games by the same authors include..." Of course that's lifted straight from the scroll on the first screen to the right of the start on TUCA (I think I called it scene #2). obviously though it's the second half of said scroll, hence why I did capitalize it. I put the first half and, I think the scene (or possibly screen) identifier in a header box they used to have to each individual message. They've been removed from the forum and so them and the content has been removed from my thread. The thread its self is replete with back references to them but usually you have to read the whole post to find them. This is one where the loss is obvious immediately.

Edit: looking again they haven't entirely gone, there's still evidence that I wrote them on the RSS feed if you read it, but it doesn't seem complete there and who wants to read that?

Bother! I'd been hoping I could view the page source, read the missing content and edit it back in. Unfortunately it doesn't appear to show there and the Topic RSS Feed clearly shows it differently. Unfortunately it only displays the content of the last page and only from the sixth message on that page. It also shows it in reverse order which isn't an obstacle for copying but it for finding.
