The Spectrum Mini - Anyone Getting One?

Not sure if this post belongs here, or in the Random Ramblings section of the forums, i've been away a while so not 100% sure...

But i was just curious who on here is getting The Spectrum (Mini)? Obviously to play Dizzy on, but also other games too perhaps.

I have an A500 Mini which was great to play Dizzy games on, i grew up playing the 16-bit versions in the mid-90s rather than the 8-bit versions, so the A500 gave me that feeling back of playing the Amiga/DOS ports as i did as a child.

I know we have emulators already, and some of us are still playing on original hardware i'm sure, but for me at least there is something extra about having a dedicated modern version of a machine for certain platforms, i can't wait to play Wonderful Dizzy on it once it turns up end of November!

Can never have too many machines to play Dizzy on! :)

I won't. But also, I already own a ZX Spectrum +3 that I am planning on modding heavily to add HDMI output, a single touch display instead of the floppy that would control the Gotek (hardware Floppy disk emulator), a custom made audio player able also to record and other hardware settings/improvements.

Plan is also to integrate a power source and only use a regular computer cable to power it. And, some other changes such as allowing the user to HALT the system from a button, provide support for usb controllers.

So the idea is to write an operating system for it and allow it to control all aspects of this machine, including the keyboard.

So, loading from tape could be done from a touch command, since it will be able to reset the machine, wait a bit, switch to 48K basic, type LOAD "" and then play some audio.

It is a challenging project that I also intend to make a video for, but it's not a priority now.

I did write a bit of code for it, just to display an animated logo which you can see in this poor quality picture below. The colors actually look beautiful in reality.

So, I'd like to make this machine go "beyond" and stick to it. :)
