If you follow our social media pages, you may be aware of this already.

We have recently launched a new Play Online Centre for the classic Codemasters games, including Dizzy.

:egg: https://thecodemastersarchive.co.uk/playonline/

The Play Online links on both this site and on The Codemasters Archive site have been updated to take you there.

A majority of the games listed should also be playable on Mobile devices.

Any major updates being made to the Play Centre will be announced on both this thread and our social media pages.

UPDATES SO FAR: (3rd December 2025)

Most Spectrum games should now be playable on mobile devices.

The mobile games can only be played with a touch screen - a D-Pad and four buttons, the best we could do at this time.
Consequently it means it isn't possible to play games that require a certain number of keys to play.

- 1st Division Manager - involves entering a name, a team and a passcode.
- Brainache - One button short to assign the ability to climb.
- Fruit Machine Simulator 2 - One button short to be able to insert tokens.
- Olli and Lissa 3 - No buttons will respond on the emulator for some bizarre reason - even though I've gone through 3 different ROMs.
- Pro BMX Simulator - Unable to set opponents to Computer.
- Pro Snooker Simulator - Unsure about, but it looks like it requires multiple keys to play.

As for the other games that require you to enter your name on startup, I'm using z80 files that bypass those screens, which means Player 1 will have to cope with being called Dizzy.

GETTING WONDERFUL DIZZY TO PLAY IN 128K MODE:

- Load up the game, ignore the error message
- Bring up the menu at the bottom of the emulator (should be accessible on all devices)
- Go to Settings > Backend Core Options > Fuse Machine > Set it to Spectrum 128k

Go back to the Game Centre then load up the game again.
Then it should start playing in 128k mode.

For now, this is the only solution as we continue to try to wrap our heads around how our new Play Centre works and behaves. (we're still new to this!)

Thanks for all the time and effort you put into this - love it  ...but...no Amstrad love  :o_o: .
You guys know that the CPC is Dizzy's native system right?

@oo7samurai Yes I do. {eggs3}:eryes:

Nothing against Amstrad at all, its just that RetroArch is giving me and @andrew a headache at the moment is we're trying to get all the games to work on the Play Centre.

We were nearly there with Amstrad, its just trying to get the emulator to launch the correct model for the games to work on.

Plus, both of us have limited time working on the Play Centre at the moment because of other commitments.

Ha - I know that you do really (I just like to remind people  ).
Yeah - RetroArch is both the best and most frustrating the eh - And I do know what you mean about time - I speant ages getting my Nintendo 2DS all set up with RetroArch...but find I now rarely have the time to play any games on it
I meant it though when I said thanks for the time and effort - I have made a bit of time for a few laps of Micro Machines already, and can't wait to get on with Rockstar Ate My Hamster on the CPC core when you get there with it!
Good work!

UPDATE - 13th January 2026

:egg: Olli And Lissa 3 (Spectrum)

- Found a TZX file that allows the keyboard controls. Meaning the controls on mobile devices should now work.

:egg: Spectrum TAP files removed

- For some bizarre reason, RetroArch keeps recognising Spectrum's TAP files as Commodore 64, meaning only the C64 emulator launches when a TAP file has opened.
- Unfortunately, this means we've had to remove "Wonderful Dizzy" from the Play Centre as its only available in TAP format.
- "Dizzy 3 And A Half" and "Guardian Angel" are now in Z80 format.

:egg: Commodore 64 games update

- Thanks to OneLoad64, we gathered a huge collection of Codies games in PRG format, which means nearly all the games will take 5 seconds to load up.
- However, not all the Codies games are currently available. but what we have so far is a fantastic amount.
- None of them are tested on mobile devices.

- A minority of the C64 games will require fiddling with the emulator settings to get the controls to work.
- The main settings that users will have to fiddle with on some games are the following...
--- Settings > Input Options > Direct Keyboard Input > set to Enabled.
--- Settings > Backend Core Options > vice joyport > set to 1. (default is port 2)
- Enabling the Keyboard input will be one of the more helpful settings.

UPDATE - 15th MAY 2026

@andrew has given the Play Centre a huge upgrade.

:egg: A major site redesign.

:egg: The games list is now in alphabetical order.

:egg: Added the missing thumbnails for some of the entries.

:egg: Amiga versions of Fantastic, Spellbound, Panic and Kwik Snax added, all in HDF format.

:egg: Amiga versions of Treasure Island and Big Nose The Caveman replaced, you will need to delete your browser cache to get them to work.

:egg: All Mega Drive/Genesis games should now appear after swapping some ROMs for the ones in MD format.

:egg: Most games should now respond on Mobile devices, including C64.

That's all the confirmed updates so far. Hopefully more to come soon.

Any issues, leave a reply.
